LAHORE: Pakistan tennis player Aisamul Haq Qureshi has said that tennis stars will be auctioning their sports gear in November and December to raise funds for flood victims in Pakistan.

Speaking to Express News, Qureshi said that five tennis players including Roger Federer have sent their sports equipment for the auction.

He said that the auction will be held from United Nation’s platform.

Qureshi further said that he will also be visiting Peshawar and meet the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to discuss the rehabilitation of the the Pakistan Tennis Club at Shahi Bagh in Peshawar, which has been badly damaged in recent years.

The club is the country's only tennis centre founded by Mohammed Ali Jinnah and hence has great historical significance.

Qureshi has initiated a campaign to raise funds in collaboration with the Pakistan Tennis Federation and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tennis Federation.

Last year, Pakistan was hit by the worst floods in its history that caused $10 billion worth of damages and had affected 21 million people, whereas, tens of thousands of people are still living in refugee camps.
