Indo-Pak tensions' fallout on Kabul

The Strategic Studies Center has examined the impact of tensions between Pakistan and India

The Strategic Studies Center of Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has examined the impact of tensions between India and Pakistan on the region, reported TOLO News.

The First Political Director of the Ministry, during a session titled "Assessing the Impact of Tensions Between India and Pakistan on the Region," stated that regional countries, particularly Afghanistan, have been affected by the strained relations between Islamabad and New Delhi.

Participants in the session emphasized that Afghanistan does not support a war between India and Pakistan and warned of the negative consequences of escalating tensions between the two countries for Afghanistan. Zia Ahmad Takal, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted the deputy of the Strategic Studies Center as saying that due to Afghanistan's geographic proximity to both Pakistan and India, the intensification of tensions could have direct negative effects on the region and Afghanistan.

He added that the First Political Director noted how the attack on tourists in Kashmir had exacerbated long-standing hostilities, with reciprocal actions by both countries — such as the closure of the Wagah border — already impacting the region and especially Afghanistan.

Ghulam Mohammaduddin Muhammadi, a political analyst, stated: "Afghanistan's relations with India have significantly im proved, and we hope these ties will further strengthen to help address other Afghan challenges. Pakistan is also our neighbor, and Afghanistan seeks good relations with them as well."

Participants also noted that the Islamic Emirate is prepared for potential developments and emphasized that, under its balanced and economy-focused foreign policy, Kabul prefers a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Deputy PM/FM Ishaq Dar on Sunday reaffirmed Pakistan's vision for a peaceful neighbourhood, enhanced trade and connectivity, sustainable development and prosperity.

He chaired a high-level meeting at the foreign ministry to follow up on the outcomes of his visit to Kabul, Afghanistan, on April 19, the FO spokesperson said in a statement. With input from APP
