Gujranwala gets smart driving licence centres
Traffic police have established six Rehbar Centres to assist citizens with issuance and renewal of learning, international, light and heavy transport vehicle driving licences.
Gujranwala Chief Traffic Officer Ayesha Butt inaugurated the centres based on the concept of a smart office, aiming to provide improved public services according to modern demands.
Gujranwala's population has exceeded 2.3 million, with millions of vehicles, mostly motorcycles, on the roads daily. The licensing centres aim to reduce traffic accidents and encourage people to obtain licences, barring underage driving.
The smart offices have been set up at key locations along the Grand Trunk Road, equipped with a wireless traffic management system. Three offices are operational at Dastagir Chowk, Chunda Qila and Jinnah Interchange.
These offices provide facilities for learner's, international, duplicate and motorcycle driving licences. Citizens can also file complaints about traffic issues and access information about various government departments and roads.
CTO Ayesha Butt stressed that public cooperation is essential for safe road travel, noting that over 1.5 million licences have been issued. She urged people to follow the law and refrain from allowing children to drive.
