PTI decides against attending govt briefing on Pakistan-India situation

A govt minister issuing unilateral briefing with no effort to include key opposition figures like Imran Khan: PTI

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced it will not participate in the government’s briefing on the current Pakistan-India tensions following the Pahalgam incident, Express News reported on Sunday.

In a statement issued after a meeting of PTI’s political committee, the party reiterated its "unambiguous and consistent condemnation of all forms of terrorism." The statement also highlighted former prime minister Imran Khan’s repeated calls for national unity and internal stability, even while imprisoned.

"Imran Khan, despite being unlawfully incarcerated, has clearly denounced terrorism and urged the nation towards unity," the party said, calling his message “reflective of a national leader’s vision.”

PTI reaffirmed its commitment to defending the country in the face of external aggression and cited a resolution passed on its founding day condemning Indian actions and propaganda.

The party criticised the government for failing to convene an All Parties Conference (APC), arguing that such a step was crucial to build consensus on national security. Instead, PTI said, a government minister was issuing a unilateral briefing with no effort to include key opposition figures like Imran Khan.

“This is merely a government-led briefing with no intention to forge national consensus,” the statement said. “Under these circumstances, PTI sees no value in participating.” The decision, the party said, was reached unanimously by its political committee.
