A protest by lawyers at the Sunset Boulevard signal on Korangi Road lasted for three hours late on Friday and ended without any negotiations.
During dispersal, Karachi Bar Joint Secretary Rehman Korai announced that police personnel would not be allowed inside court premises until a case was registered against the involved officials.
Following his statement, the road was reopened and normal traffic flow was restored.
The protest originated when lawyers visited the Defence police station to register a case against Defence police officials in accordance with a court order.
When the police refused to comply, the lawyers staged a sit-in at the Sunset Boulevard signal on the main Korangi Road, which led to a severe traffic jam and long queues of vehicles, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
The tension stems from an incident last month, when a dispute occurred at the Defence police station between members of the legal community and police officials.
