Netflix’s heartfelt comedy The Four Seasons has earned attention for its seamless blend of humor, emotion, and character-driven storytelling.
In a recent interview with Collider, stars Colman Domingo, Marco Calvani, and Kerri Kenney shared insights into the making of the series and the emotional journey their characters take.
The series follows six longtime friends — portrayed by Tina Fey, Will Forte, Steve Carell, Kerri Kenney, Colman Domingo, and Marco Calvani — whose annual vacations become emotionally charged following a couple’s unexpected split. The ensemble must navigate shifting dynamics, grief, and personal growth across four seasonal getaways.
Domingo and Calvani revealed their real-life friendship played a key role in their on-screen chemistry. After a casual dinner party, Domingo suggested Calvani for the role of Claude, his character Danny’s husband — a casting choice that brought genuine warmth and intimacy to the series. “We already had a fascination with each other,” Domingo said. “It’s baked into the cake.”
Kenney, meanwhile, praised the show’s writing for helping her channel the raw vulnerability of her character Anne, who grapples with grief and self-sabotage. One standout scene — a hilariously offbeat rendition of “Candle in the Wind” — had the entire cast laughing on set. “I’ve paused 100 times on Colman’s reaction when he realizes what the song is,” Kenney shared.
As The Four Seasons explores deep emotional themes, the cast hinted at hopes for a second season to continue their stories. The series is now streaming on Netflix.
