Ryan Reynolds is reportedly developing a new Deadpool and X-Men crossover film, marking a bold new direction for the fan-favorite antihero.

Following the massive success of Deadpool & Wolverine, which earned $1.338 billion globally, Reynolds is pivoting away from solo films to explore ensemble storytelling within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to sources, Reynolds is in the early stages of writing treatments for a film that would bring Deadpool together with three or four X-Men characters. While no official pitch has been made to Marvel Studios, Reynolds is known for his hands-on creative process and is developing the concept independently for now.

Unlike previous installments where Deadpool took center stage, the new film may position him as a supporting player. Reynolds believes this shift could allow the spotlight to shine on lesser-used X-Men in fresh, unexpected ways. While no characters are confirmed, Oscar-nominated Wicked star Cynthia Erivo has publicly expressed interest in portraying Storm.

This X-Men crossover is unrelated to the standalone X-Men project currently being written by Hunger Games scribe Michael Lesslie. The move reflects Reynolds' ongoing transition toward writing and producing, including his upcoming Paramount comedy Boy Band.

Despite being embroiled in a legal battle alongside his wife Blake Lively, Reynolds remains committed to storytelling. He recently said, “I’m more passionate about storytelling than I am about acting,” underlining his shift in focus within Hollywood.

Though still unofficial, a Deadpool and X-Men crossover has the potential to be a major new chapter in the MCU. Would you want to see Deadpool team up with the X-Men?
