After three impactful years on The Young and the Restless, actress Allison Lanier is officially saying goodbye to her role as Summer Newman.
Lanier announced her departure on social media on April 30, sharing with fans that her final episode on the long-running CBS soap opera will air Friday, May 2, 2025.
In her heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Lanier wrote:
Hi guys!! This Friday, May 2nd, will be my last episode on Y&R! I've loved the journey and learned so much but it's time to grow in a different direction... very grateful for all of the Y&R fans who have supported me <3

Lanier stepped into the role in 2022, succeeding Hunter King, who portrayed Summer from 2012 to 2022. Her performance earned industry recognition, including a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2024, mirroring King's 2013 nomination.
As of now, there is no announced recast for the character of Summer Newman. According to Soap Opera Digest, the show has no immediate plans to replace Lanier, leaving the future of the character uncertain.
Lanier’s exit follows a series of cast shakeups in 2025, continuing the trend of change in Genoa City. Her fans, while surprised, are eager to see what new direction her career will take next.
