Eight die as bus plunges into ravine
At least eight people, including three women and several children, lost their lives when a passenger vehicle veered off the road and fell into a deep ravine in the Lower Kohistan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The fatal accident occurred along the Karakoram Highway near the Mita Banda areaan area known for its narrow and winding roads that pose significant risks, particularly in mountainous regions.
The ill-fated vehicle was reportedly traveling from Rawalpindi to Gilgit when the driver lost control, sending the vehicle tumbling into a steep gorge below. Rescue sources, speaking to a private news channel, confirmed the deaths and said the victims included women and children, making the tragedy even more heart-wrenching.
Eyewitnesses reported scenes of chaos and despair as emergency responders and local residents rushed to the crash site to assist. Rescue teams reached the location shortly after the incident was reported and began a coordinated operation to retrieve the bodies.
