Gas cylinder explosion in Lahore kills five
At least five people were killed and five others seriously injured after a gas cylinder explosion caused a fire at a shop in Lahore’s Ravi Road area, officials said.
Rescue sources confirmed the fire erupted when a cylinder exploded inside the shop, Express News reported.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, extinguished the flames, and moved the deceased and injured to a nearby hospital.
The injured are reported to be in critical condition.
Following the incident, Lahore DIG Operations expressed regret over the loss of life and ordered an immediate sweep of the area with the help of relevant departments.
He instructed law enforcement to remain on high alert and called for strict surveillance across all city zones.
Officials also ordered the immediate shutdown of all illegal LPG sale points operating in the vicinity.
Investigations into the cause and possible negligence are ongoing.
