
A teenage boy was killed and five other people, including their teacher, injured because of a gas explosion in a seminary in Samanabad on Saturday.
According to a Rescue 1122 spokesman, the children were studying in the seminary on Risala Road when they smelled gas from a store room.
Their teacher, Qari Zaheer Ahmad, sent a student to check gas leakage in the room. When the boy switched on a light in the room, the gas caught fire and caused an explosion.
The gas explosion left dead Rehan, aged 17, on the spot, while Qari Zaheer, 42, Hassaan Sohail, 12, Abdul Hadi, 10, Husnain Zulfiqar, 12, and Rahmat Ullah, 32, suffered multiple injuries.
The injured were shifted to the Government General Hospital Samanabad. Later, Zaheer and two injured students were referred to Allied Hospital.
