Building collapse kills one, injures two
A two-year-old girl was killed and two individuals sustained injuries when a portion of a three-story residential building in Cattle Colony collapsed on Road No 8. The incident occurred after the roof of the structure caved in.
Emergency services, including Chippa Welfare, Rescue 1122, and the Urban Search and Rescue Team, along with district police, swiftly responded to the scene following the report. Rescue operations commenced immediately, with teams clearing debris and evacuating local residents to safety.
A 55-year-old man, Ashiq, and a 50-year-old woman, Kamal Khatoon, were successfully extracted from the collapsed building and received initial medical treatment at the site. Subsequently, both injured individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for further care, according to a Rescue 1122 spokesperson.
The spokesperson for SSP Malir stated that police and relevant authorities have launched an investigation into the legal and technical aspects of the collapse to ascertain the cause. The investigation is ongoing, and findings are expected in due course. District police confirmed that the incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Sukhan police station. Authorities noted that narrow streets in the area presented challenges for police and rescue personnel during their operations.
