Lily Allen has issued a public apology to Katy Perry for her recent comments about the singer’s Blue Origin space flight.
In an episode of her podcast “Miss Me?” on Sunday, Allen, 39, admitted to being “mean” in her criticism of Perry’s controversial 11-minute suborbital flight, which took place on April 14, 2025.
“I would actually like to apologize for being mean about Katy Perry last week,” Allen said. “There was no need to bring her name into it, and it was my own internalized misogyny.” The apology came after Allen labeled the flight “out of touch” amid global economic struggles, criticizing Perry and her fellow female passengers for taking part in the extravagant trip.
In a change of heart, Allen acknowledged her comments were unfair, noting that while she disagreed with the flight, Perry wasn’t the only person involved. She also admitted that she would have been hurt if someone had used her name in the same way.
While Perry has not publicly responded to Allen’s apology, the Blue Origin mission, which included high-profile women like Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez, has sparked controversy. Many public figures, including Olivia Munn and Amy Schumer, criticized the space journey for its perceived excessiveness at a time of widespread financial hardship.
However, Allen’s heartfelt apology has sparked discussions about how celebrities address public disagreements, especially in the age of social media, where harsh criticisms can quickly escalate.
