Pir Pagara, the spiritual leader of the Hur community, has called upon protesters to end road blockades while celebrating the Council of Common Interests' decision to cancel the new canals project as a "victory of the conscious youth, children, elderly, and women of Sindh."
The people of Sindh protested for their rights in towns and villages, enduring extreme heat and harsh weather without concern, and it was due to their unparalleled struggle that this victory became possible, Pir Pagara said in a statement Monday night.
"From day one my stance has been that, at a time when threats of war loom over our borders, the entire nation needs to stand united alongside Pakistan Army," he said, adding that the whole nation, along with the Hur community, firmly stands with the armed forces. "The nation has full confidence and trust that the armed forces are capable of defending every inch of the motherland."
He stated that if the Modi government commits any act of aggression, Pakistan Army, with the help and support of the nation, will give a befitting response. Any kind of adventurism can be expected from Modi, who had previously worked as a waiter and cleaner in a restaurant," he added.
It's Pakistan's victory: Sharjeel
Meanwhile, Sindh's Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon also welcomed the CCI decision as a victory of the people of Pakistan. "This is not anyone's defeat or victory; this is Pakistan's victory," Sharjeel said in a statement on Monday.
"This is a triumph of the supremacy of the Constitution, national unity, and the principles of justice," he added. "Today, every Pakistani can hold their head high with pride because we have recognised each other's rights and further strengthened our unity."
The senior minister said that the PPP has always strived for the strengthening of the federation, the rights of the provinces, and the prosperity of the people.
