Double-murder tied to old feud
A double murder that occurred on Peshawar Road in the jurisdiction of Race Course Police Station in Rawalpindi last night turned out to be the result of an old enmity.
According to the police, the deceased, Waleed Shiraz Satti, and his brother were involved in murder of Adnan Ali in 2020 following a dispute in the limits of R.A. Bazaar police station. Waleed Satti had been sentenced to death by a sessions court but was later acquitted along with his brothers by another court.
A case regarding the double murder had been registered against six suspects, including Ehtesham alias Thalla and Malik Yasir, on the complaint of the deceased's brother, Kamran Shiraz Satti. However, the suspects have not yet been arrested.
According to the police, on the night between Sunday and Monday, armed motorcycle riders shot and killed two men, Waleed Shiraz Satti and Shan Butt, near Qasim Market on Peshawar Road, and then fled after committing the crime.
The FIR, filed by Kamran Shiraz Satti, stated that the incident was the result of an old enmity. According to the complaint, Kamran mentioned that they had attended a wedding ceremony of a friend's son, where his deceased brother participated along with Shan Butt and others.
After the event, Waleed Satti, Shan Butt, and Faizan Butt were travelling in a car, while Kamran and others were on motorcycles heading towards Quba Market on Peshawar Road. Near Riphah University, three motorcycles carrying Malik Fasih, Rizwan alias Chitta, and others attempted to stop the car at gunpoint.
When the car did not stop, Malik Yasir maneuvered his motorcycle alongside the car's front seat, and Rizwan alias Chitta fired multiple shots at Shan Butt, hitting him six times and seriously injuring him.
Simultaneously, Ehtesham alias Thalla brought another motorcycle alongside the driver's side, and Malik Fasih, seated behind Ehtesham, fired six bullets at Waleed Satti, also critically injuring him.
Due to the firing, the car driven by Waleed lost control and crashed into the pavement, while the assailants fled towards Qasim Market, continuing to fire as they escaped. Waleed Satti and Shan Butt succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital.
The six accused involved in the double murder, including Malik Fasih, Ehtesham Qureshi alias Thalla, Malik Yasir, Rizwan Munir alias Chitta, Junaid Bhatti, and Khurram alias Cheeta killed the two victims due to an old enmity. The police have registered a case and initiated a search for the accused.
Moreover, the police said that the deceased and his brothers were previously nominated in the 2020 murder case of Adnan Ali. Malik Imran had filed the case after his brother, Adnan Ali, was killed during a dispute. Waleed Satti was initially sentenced to death by a sessions court, while his three brothers and co-accused were acquitted at various stages.
In November 2024, Waleed Satti was also acquitted by a higher court. After the acquittal, both parties had been living peacefully in their respective areas, until one faction brutally killed two individuals from the opposing side last night.
Police officials stated that a double murder case has been registered and raids are ongoing to arrest the accused.
