A judicial magistrate remanded a man and his wife to police custody until April 30 in connection with the alleged torture and death of a three-year-old boy.
The accused, Ramsha, the child's biological mother, and her second husband Asad, the boy's stepfather, were presented before the district central judicial magistrate.
The investigating officer (IO) informed the court that Ramsha had a three-year-old son, Ali, from a previous marriage. After marrying Asad, the couple allegedly subjected the toddler to repeated torture. When Ali's condition worsened, they took him to a hospital, falsely claiming that he had been injured after falling from the stairs. The court remanded both suspects into police custody until April 30.
