Gas supply suspended in parts of Karachi

SSGC stated that gas restoration efforts are expected to be completed by 4 PM today.

A fire broke out near Jubilee Cinema in Saddar, Karachi, earlier today after a gas leak in a sewerage channel combined with a short circuit in a K-Electric cable. The blaze prompted an immediate response from emergency services to prevent further damage.

To minimize risk, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) swiftly shut off gas supply from its Transmission and Distribution Stations (TBS) at Mazar-e-Quaid and Civil Hospital. This precaution was taken to reduce the potential danger caused by the gas leak and fire.

Repair work on the damaged gas pipeline is currently ongoing, with SSGC estimating it will take approximately three to four hours to complete. As a result, gas supply has been temporarily suspended in the following areas:

  • Jubilee Cinema and nearby localities

  • Soldier Bazaar

  • Jamshed Road

SSGC has stated that gas services are expected to be fully restored by 4 PM today, barring any delays.
