Foodpanda to shut down operations in Thailand by May 2025

The decision was officially shared via Foodpanda Thailand’s social media channels

Foodpanda has announced it will end its operations in Thailand effective 23 May 2025, drawing a close to its efforts in one of Southeast Asia’s most competitive food delivery markets.

The decision was officially shared via Foodpanda Thailand’s social media channels on April 23.

In its announcement, the company cited a misalignment between current market conditions in Thailand and its long-term strategic goals. Foodpanda extended its gratitude to customers, restaurant partners, and riders who supported the platform throughout its journey.

The move was confirmed by Delivery Hero, Foodpanda’s parent company, which described the closure as part of a broader strategic reallocation of resources. The company noted that this decision follows similar exits from markets like Denmark and Slovakia, where operational sustainability proved difficult.

Delivery Hero said it will now concentrate its efforts on Asia Pacific markets with stronger potential for growth and profitability. Despite ceasing delivery services, a regional support team based in Thailand will remain in place to oversee operations in neighbouring countries.

Sources indicate Foodpanda had struggled with profitability in Thailand for several years. Although the COVID-19 pandemic brought a temporary boost in demand, consistent losses and limited impact from cost-cutting measures ultimately led to the exit.

This marks another step in Delivery Hero’s ongoing push to consolidate its resources in high-return markets and streamline operations across its global portfolio.
