Renowned designer faces family maintenance suit
Internationally acclaimed fashion designer Mahmood Ahmad Tahir Bhatti is facing mounting legal scrutiny in a family court in Lahore, as he stands accused of failing to provide emotional and financial support to a family member.
Court documents confirm that case number 83041225 was filed on 6 March 2025 in the Lahore Family Court. The suit, categorised as a “Suit for Maintenance,” is being presided over by Civil Judge Rana Asif Mustafa. The case has progressed to the Proclamation stage—a step typically indicating non-compliance with court notices or deliberate evasion.
Despite his carefully crafted public image and international success, the allegations against Bhatti suggest a strikingly different personal narrative. Sources familiar with the case allege a pattern of neglect and estrangement, with deeper tensions tied to financial responsibilities, inheritance disputes, and broader moral concerns within the family.
Neither Bhatti nor his legal representatives have issued a public statement in response to the case. The court is expected to issue further directions if the designer fails to respond to the summons.
