In an interview on Mazaq Raat, film actor Khushboo Khan opened up about certain secrets she's held close to her heart. She admitted that she has been betrayed before, which caused her to lose faith in empty promises. "It feels as if everything I've done has gone to waste," she said. "I've made many sacrifices, only to receive bad things in return. And that shattered me horribly."
Smiling ear-to-ear, she confessed that she's still broken. "This smiling, blooming face is for show. Whatever lies inside, we can't show that to anyone," she said.
"I've loved people dearly," she added despairingly. "If I made someone a friend, I would suffer for it. Even relatives - I don't care if they hold a grudge against me after this - have treated me badly."
Even love didn't seem to fare well for the actor. "I've loved in pieces, held the other person in reverence, and understood afterwards what's been happening to me. Then it was just me, my home, my kids, and a broken heart."
Khushboo believes that love is merely a phase. "Love is a way to pass time. No matter the efforts you put in, even investing money won't buy you love," she said. "This is all practical. It has happened to me. My friends, my relatives, and so many other people have done this to me. I've benefitted a lot of people, though I haven't been so lucky myself."
Elaborating on how luck has evaded her, the Selaab actor revealed that she never wanted to work in the film industry. "I've been a homebody since childhood. And even though no believes this, after I entered the film industry, I became a heroine by 11. I didn't want to do this, but my mother urged me to."
Khushboo debuted as a child actor in a film helmed by her mother's friend, which led to a series of opportunities. "I never got a break. When I would be released from shooting, I'd run off to get ice cream and chocolate."
She stated that her consent wasn't involved when it came to being a star. "I had no interest in working in films. I wanted to be a teacher. I wanted to pursue my own education."
However, due to her family's financial struggles, Khushboo couldn't back away. "I raised my siblings, their kids, and even our relatives. I had a lot of responsibilities to shoulder, so I was compelled into working," she said.
"I realised that when one person takes the initiative, they must stay committed to it. I had to sacrifice myself. And now, Maa Shaa Allah everyone else is settled, though I am alone."
