Former prime minister and President of the Awaam Pakistan Party Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the canal project has triggered deep concern among the public, while the federal government has failed to explain what impact the project will have on Sindh.
Speaking to the media at the IBA in Karachi, he said a meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) must be convened immediately on the issue.
Abbasi said the issue was not a new problem. "When I visited Sukkur in November, people were already discussing it," he said, adding that the federal government
has yet to clarify how the canals will affect Sindh's share of water.
