Speeding rickshaw claims life of student
A 9th grader was killed, and her younger sister was severely injured when a routine school run turned deadly in Kallar Kahar after a speeding rickshaw collided head-on with a tractor-trolley.
The rickshaw was going at a high speed when it crashed into the oncoming tractor-trolley. The victims were identified as Zahra Bashir (a 9th-grade student) and her sister Areeba Bashir (a 3rd-grade student).
Both were immediately taken to the Trauma Centre in Kallar Kahar, where Zahra was later referred to Rawalpindi for further treatment. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries before reaching the hospital.
Eyewitnesses reported that multiple rickshaw drivers were competing with each other to drive fast, which likely contributed to the accident. Chakwal District Police Officer (DPO) Ahmed Mohiuddin took immediate notice of the incident.
