LAHORE:

Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that while the Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) remains an ally of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), it will not serve merely as a passive partner or silent spectator.

During meetings with various delegations and as several PML-N workers from District Okara joined the PPP, he affirmed his commitment to advocating for the development of the province and the provision of basic services to its people.

Welcoming the new party members, Governor Khan said their inclusion would strengthen PPP's position in Punjab. He added that the party would actively contest the upcoming by-election in Sialkot constituency PP-52.

"The people of Punjab are placing their trust in the PPP and in Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's leadership. We are fully prepared to give our opponents a tough challenge in the Sialkot by-election," he added.

The governor expressed optimism that the PP-52 contest would mark a revival of the PPP in the province, claiming that increasing support from the business community, farmers, labourers and youth signals growing confidence in the party's policies.

He reiterated the PPP's commitment to addressing the challenges faced by farmers across the province.
