The caracal is listed among Pakistan’s endangered wildlife species and is notoriously difficult to spot, especially in arid and semi-desert regions like Cholistan. Its presence not only signifies the ecological vitality of the region but also underscores the impact of ongoing wildlife monitoring and conservation efforts.
Mujahid Kaleem, Assistant Conservator Wildlife, Rahim Yar Khan, described the sighting as one of the most unforgettable experiences of his career. "Such moments are a source of immense joy for every nature enthusiast and wildlife official," he remarked.
According to the Wildlife Department, the rare observation has been documented and will be utilised for future research and conservation strategies aimed at protecting the country’s vulnerable wildlife species.
