69% of Gaza under Israeli displacement orders: UNRWA

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has reported that 69 percent of the Gaza city is now under active Israeli displacement orders, as the humanitarian crisis deepens in the genocide-torn enclave.

According to UNRWA, at least 20 such displacement orders were issued by the Israeli military between March 18 and April 14.

The agency is currently operating 115 shelters across Gaza, accommodating over 90,000 displaced people.

Since the collapse of the ceasefire on March 18, around 420,000 individuals have been displaced again.

The health toll continues to rise.

The Gaza Health Ministry said Sunday that more than 51,200 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 117,000 injured since Israel launched its military invasion in October 2023.

The latest attacks, reported in the past 24 hours, claimed at least 44 lives and wounded 145 more.

Many victims remain trapped under rubble, with rescue efforts impeded by ongoing hostilities.

Despite a temporary ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in January, Israel resumed its aerial and ground invasion on March 18.

Since then, more than 1,800 Palestinians have been killed and thousands injured.

UNRWA reiterated the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and the unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid and commercial supplies into Gaza.

Israel has blocked aid deliveries since March 2.

Israel’s military attacks have come under international legal scrutiny.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over war crimes.

Concurrently, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
