Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab inaugurated what is known as Asia’s largest cattle market, located near Northern Bypass

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Saturday inaugurated what is known as Asia’s largest cattle market, located near the Northern Bypass, and assured that all necessary arrangements would be made to address issues faced by buyers and traders, Express News reported.

Accompanied by Deputy Mayor Salman Murad, Wahab praised the efforts of the market administration during the opening ceremony, saying, “It feels like a particularly hot day, but let’s keep smiling — that’s how problems get solved.”

He noted the significance of the market, stating, “Every year, millions of animals are brought to this market, and thousands of Karachiites come here to purchase sacrificial animals. May Allah accept everyone’s sacrifice and bless the traders with good earnings.”

Wahab emphasised the city government’s commitment to improving facilities. “We are working towards building a society where people support each other during difficulties. We will address security concerns and ensure cleanliness and convenience for both buyers and sellers,” he said.

He also highlighted the market’s economic impact. “The presence of this cattle market brings life to Karachi. When Karachi thrives, Pakistan thrives. Traders from across the country come here to earn fair profits,” he remarked.

Congratulating the administration on well-organised arrangements, Wahab acknowledged that traffic issues usually arise during the final days of the market, but said that authorities would ensure smooth operations. “The people of Karachi are generous — we expect trade to be significant. ‘Change’ may have become a tainted word, but this is a year of real improvement,” he said.

He concluded by affirming his party’s commitment: “Bilawal Bhutto’s representatives have set the path for progress, and we will continue this journey of development.
