Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Saturday that the National Police Academy (NPA) is being completely restructured in line with international standards to enhance the quality of training and professionalism within Pakistan’s police force.
Speaking at a press briefing, the minister said the reorganisation of the academy is part of a broader strategy to modernize law enforcement institutions across the country.
Naqvi said that police officers will now be trained using internationally-recognised best practices, with an increased focus on human rights, technology, investigative techniques, and counterterrorism strategies.
“This restructuring will ensure that our police force is fully equipped to deal with modern-day challenges and maintain public trust,” the minister stated. “We are determined to build a police system that is responsive, efficient, and respected worldwide.”
The overhaul includes updates to the curriculum, infrastructure upgrades, incorporation of advanced training simulations, and collaboration with international policing bodies and training institutions.
Trainers from friendly countries will also be invited to help develop a future-ready force.
The interior ministry confirmed that a special task force is monitoring the reform process, and the first batch of officers under the new system will graduate by early next year.
