Karachi's theatre scene is buzzing, and the stars are lining up — literally. Earlier this week, A-lister Saba Qamar lit up Instagram with praise for Monkey Business, Yasir Hussain's latest comedic theatrical brainchild. Her photos say it all: laughing mid-scene, posing with the cast post-show, and looking like she had the time of her life.
"What a brilliant ride of laughter and pure entertainment!" she wrote. "I was literally rolling with laughter! Huge shoutout to the whole team, you guys killed it."
Highlighting the show's blend of sharp wit and madcap mayhem, Saba gave a special nod to Yasir, calling him "incredibly talented". Urging those who have not yet seen the play, Saba lauded her friend's theatrical endeavours with these warm words: "You're seriously missing out!"
Not far behind Saba was veteran actor Hina Bayat, who also shared her support for the show on her Instagram story and later commented on Yasir's post. "Thank you for making us laugh, scream, sing along and have an absolutely fun-filled time," wrote the Churails actor. Making special mention of Yasir's journey from the screen to the stage, Hina added, "You are such a powerhouse of talent, from the days before TV to now, you know I've been a diehard fan. Love, love, love and prayers always."
The gushing love from supporters did not go unnoticed. Taking to his Instagram handle, Yasir grabbed the opportunity to thank the many film and television stars who have supported theatre by showing up. In addition to Saba and Hina, the play's audience included Cake actor Aamina Sheikh and Khaie actor Noorul Hassan, as well as television directors Wajahat Hussain and Farooq Rind.
"Thank you for supporting theatre in Pakistan," penned Yasir. Directing his attitude to the theatre-going audience at large, he added, "And thank you Karachi for your love. This city is amazing."
In the comments, fans from across the country were quick to ask the next big question: "When are you bringing the show to Lahore and Islamabad?" However, there has been no word yet about whether the play will tour nationally.
Written, directed, and headlined by Yasir himself, the stage production is a laugh-out-loud satire that explores everyday absurdities with high-energy performances, cheeky social commentary, and a whole lot of slapstick.
