MPA's hujra set on fire in North Waziristan
Unidentified armed men set fire to the hujra of local MPA and former provincial minister Iqbal Wazir in the North Waziristan tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The blaze completely destroyed the building along with all valuables inside. The suspects fled the scene without being identified.
Police told The Express Tribune that the attack occurred late last night when the perpetrators torched the building. "Several rooms were gutted along with the furniture and belongings. The entire structure sustained severe damage," a police official said.
According to the police, no one was injured in the fire as they managed to evacuate the building in a timely manner.
Police investigation teams reached the spot and collected vital evidence.
"The search for those involved in the attack is ongoing, and the incident is being investigated from multiple angles," authorities said.
Reacting to the incident, MPA Iqbal Wazir condemned the attack, calling it cowardly act intended to spread fear and panic in the area. He said that such tactics against him cannot demotivate him and he will remain committed to public service.
He demanded an immediate and transparent investigation into the incident.
The attack sparked widespread concern among local residents. Tribal elders and citizens took to social media to strongly condemn the incident, urging the government to take concrete steps to improve law and order in the region.
"Such incidents shake public trust and are not merely personal attacks - they pose a threat to the entire democratic system," said a local leader
It should be noted that MPA Iqbal Wazir has previously survived multiple attacks and continues to receive threats from terrorists groups.
