KARACHI:
An investigation into the four deaths at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre on September 12 will be conducted by a team set up by the provincial health department, a senior official told The Express Tribune. The death took place in the neurosurgery intensive care unit after the hospital suffered a long power outage. All four patients, one child and three men, were on the ventilator, which switched off. The hospital did not have power for 13 hours. Three back-up generators could not be used for life-saving functions because the hospital could not pay for diesel. The hospital declined to comment on the case.
