Jonathan Anderson to take the reins as creative director at Dior Men

The Loewe game changer will now lend his vision to menswear at Dior.

After months of swirling rumours and whispered anticipation, it's now official—Jonathan Anderson is the new creative director of Dior Men.

The news was confirmed today, 17 April, by none other than LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault during the group’s annual shareholders meeting.

Anderson will step into the role previously held by Kim Jones, who ended his seven-year tenure at the French fashion house in January.

The designer’s first collection for Dior will be unveiled this June at Paris Fashion Week Men’s, marking one of the most highly anticipated debuts of the year.

The appointment comes hot on the heels of Anderson’s recent departure from Loewe, the Spanish heritage house he transformed over the past 11 years into a trailblazing force in global fashion.

His time there was punctuated by cultural-defining moments: Rihanna’s unforgettable ruby red Super Bowl look, Beyoncé’s dazzling Renaissance tour ensembles, and cinematic campaigns featuring icons like Dame Maggie Smith, Aubrey Plaza, Josh O’Connor, and Taylor Russell.

These creative triumphs made it clear why Dior would be next to come knocking.

Anderson’s journey to the upper echelons of fashion began in London.

After graduating from the London College of Fashion in 2005, he worked as a visual merchandiser for Prada, mentored by the legendary Manuela Pavesi. He launched his own label, JW Anderson, in 2008, originally focused solely on menswear.

It wasn’t until 2010 that his brand was shown on the official London Fashion Week schedule, thanks to support from the British Fashion Council.

Much like contemporaries Craig Green, Priya Ahluwalia, Wales Bonner, and Robyn Lynch, Anderson's roots in the London scene are deep—a scene that suffered a blow recently with the cancellation of London Fashion Week Men’s June edition in favour of a Paris showroom.

Before he landed at Loewe, Anderson also had a stint at Versus, the youthful Versace diffusion line.

He was hand-picked by Donatella Versace to replace Christopher Kane, showing his debut collection in June 2013.

Just months later, it was announced he’d be taking over at Loewe, while LVMH also acquired a minority stake in JW Anderson, further cementing his role as one of the most influential designers of his generation.

Though his appointment at Dior doesn’t come as a total surprise amid fashion’s current game of creative director musical chairs, today’s confirmation feels like a landmark moment—not only for the house but also for Anderson himself.

Dior remains one of the most globally recognisable and prestigious luxury brands, and Anderson’s vision will now shape its menswear future.

His Dior Men debut is set for 27 June 2025 during Paris Fashion Week. While Bernard Arnault didn’t offer additional details, speculation continues to swirl that Anderson could eventually oversee Dior's womenswear too—currently helmed by Maria Grazia Chiuri.

For now, the spotlight is squarely on the men’s division, and Anderson’s next chapter is already promising to be one for the fashion history books.
