WATCH: Marjorie Taylor Greene laughs as two protestors tased at townhall

Tasers were deployed and three people arrested as a Georgia town hall hosted by Marjorie Taylor Greene turned chaotic.

A town hall hosted by Republican representative Marjorie Taylor Greene descended into disorder Tuesday night as police tasered protesters and removed multiple audience members amid heated exchanges over former President Donald Trump’s trade policies.

Two protesters were tasered and three individuals arrested during a chaotic town hall held by hard-right congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene in Acworth, Georgia, on Tuesday evening.

Greene, a vocal ally of Donald Trump, was met with persistent interruptions from audience members questioning the former president’s controversial tariffs and her alleged financial interests. Video footage from the event showed police deploying an electronic non-lethal device to subdue a protester, prompting cheers from parts of the 150-strong crowd.

“This is a town hall. This should not have to happen,” Greene said from the stage as officers intervened. Despite the use of force, no individuals appeared to approach the congresswoman directly.

Acworth police confirmed the arrest of two men aged 40 and 45, and a 28-year-old woman. Sgt Eric Mistretta said officers responded appropriately to individuals who shouted at Greene and resisted removal.

During the event, Greene accused the Democratic Party of orchestrating the disruptions, though she did not present evidence. She labelled critical audience members as “brainwashed” and urged them to leave.

Tensions escalated when Greene dismissed questions about Trump’s tariff policies, denying claims that the measures would increase consumer prices. She also faced scrutiny after a protester held up a sign alleging she had profited from stock purchases linked to last week’s partial pause on tariffs.

In response to questions from reporters after the event, Greene stated that a financial adviser manages her investments and denied direct involvement in recent trades. “He did a great job. He bought the dip,” she said.

The congresswoman has faced criticism in recent weeks, including a separate incident where she told a Sky News reporter to “go back to your country” following a leak involving sensitive text messages on US military action.

Despite internal pressure from congressional leaders to avoid holding public forums, Greene has continued to stage town hall events in her home state.
