Florence Pugh has revealed she fell into what she described as a “three-hour coma” following a major stunt on the set of Marvel’s upcoming film Thunderbolts. The actor plays Yelena Belova and performed a high-rise jump from Merdeka 118, the world’s second-tallest building, located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Speaking to Fandango, Pugh said the production initially hesitated to let her complete the jump herself due to insurance concerns. “They said they don’t think it’s going to happen because it’s a crazy insurance ordeal,” she explained. “I was like, what the f**k? Of course, we are!”

Pugh pushed back by directly emailing Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, referring to herself as a “sassy Karen” in her campaign to stay involved in the stunt. She argued the footage would enhance the film’s publicity and referenced plans to break multiple world records, though specifics were not provided.

The studio eventually allowed Pugh to perform the jump, and Marvel released behind-the-scenes footage on social media, where it quickly gained attention.

Reflecting on the physical toll, Pugh said the experience left her “zen-like” but mentally drained. “When I got home, I went into what I can only say is like a three-hour coma, like just deep, deep sleep,” she said. “My brain was obviously trying to focus and process everything.”

Marvel’s broader strategy aims to generate excitement for Thunderbolts ahead of its release on 2 May 2025, especially after Captain America: Brave New World underperformed earlier this year.
