3 law enforcers martyred in Mastung blast
A powerful explosion targeted a Balochistan Constabulary vehicle on Dasht Road near Khand Mehsori in Mastung on Tuesday, claiming the lives of three personnel and injuring 16 others. Four of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.
According to police sources, the attack was carried out using a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) hidden in a motorcycle. The personnel were returning from duty when the blast struck their vehicle.
Emergency services and security forces responded swiftly, shifting the deceased and injured to nearby medical facilities. The critically injured were moved to the trauma centre at Civil Hospital Quetta, where an emergency was declared to ensure prompt and quality treatment for all victims.
Senior police officials and members of law enforcement agencies reached the blast site soon after the incident. They secured the area and collected evidence as part of an ongoing investigation into the perpetrators behind the attack.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti strongly condemned the bombing and expressed profound grief over the loss of precious lives.
"The cowardly terrorists behind this act will not escape justice," he vowed, adding that the provincial government remains committed to defeating terrorism. "Such attacks will never break the spirit of our security forces."
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also strongly condemned the terrorist attack.
The president and prime minister, in their separate statements, expressed grief over the martyrdom of three personnel of the Balochistan Constabulary.
They prayed for peace for the martyred souls and strength for the bereaved families to bear the loss.
President Zardari also prayed for the early recovery of the injured and reiterated the nation's resolve to wipe out terrorism from the country.
PM Shehbaz directed the authorities concerned to provide immediate medical assistance to the injured.
"We will thwart the nefarious designs of the terrorists, who are enemies of humanity. Our war against terrorists will continue until the scourge of terrorism is completely eradicated from the country," the prime minister added.
