Corporate Portfolio: SECP registered 277 firms in August

Private companies have the highest share in new incorporations with registration of 257 firms.

ISLAMABAD:
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 277 companies in August, which took the total corporate portfolio to 59,761 companies. Private companies have the highest share in new incorporations with registration of 257 firms, followed by 16 single-member companies, two public unlisted companies and two non-profit associations. Investors from the US, Australia, China, Sri Lanka, the UAE, Tanzania and Panama invested in eight new companies. Sector-wise breakdown shows 34 companies belong to the trading sector, followed by services with 32 companies, construction with 21, information technology with 19, pharmaceuticals with 14, Hajj and Umrah services, and food and beverages with 12 each and tourism with 11. Authorised and paid-up capital of these companies is Rs3.7 billion and Rs804.35 million respectively.
