Oleksandr Usyk, Daniel Dubois negotiating title fight for July at Wembley

Usyk knocked out Dubois in their first meeting back in 2023 to retain his heavyweight crown.

Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk are in negotiations for a potential heavyweight unification bout at Wembley Stadium on 12 July, with the undisputed title on the line.

IBF champion Daniel Dubois and WBA (Super), WBO, and WBC title-holder Oleksandr Usyk are in talks for a blockbuster rematch that would crown an undisputed heavyweight champion.

Usyk, 38, remains undefeated in 23 professional fights and previously stopped Dubois in their August 2023 meeting. For Dubois, 27, a rematch represents not only a shot at revenge but a chance to make history as the first British fighter to hold all four major heavyweight belts.

Since losing to Usyk, Dubois has recorded three consecutive knockout wins, reaffirming his status as one of the division’s rising forces. However, no contracts have been signed, and if negotiations collapse, the IBF will mandate Dubois to face mandatory challenger Derek Chisora, who has fought 49 times in his career.

The potential Wembley clash would take place during a crowded sporting weekend. Katie Taylor faces Amanda Serrano in New York on 11 July, Wimbledon concludes on 13 July, and the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 is also under way.

Usyk, who previously unified the cruiserweight division, has indicated plans to retire after two more fights. The Ukrainian relinquished the IBF title ahead of his scheduled rematch with Tyson Fury in December, which did not go ahead. He last fought in May, defeating Fury to cement his status as the division’s top fighter.

Dubois was originally set to defend his IBF belt against Joseph Parker in February, but illness forced his withdrawal during fight week.

No Briton has held the undisputed heavyweight title in the four-belt era. The last to unify the division was Lennox Lewis in 1999, before the current sanctioning structure came into effect.
