KU raises alarm over harassment cases

The increasing number of harassment cases in academic institutions is a serious concern for society, said experts during a panel discussion titled "Increasing Harassment in Academic Institutions." The event was organised by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Karachi, and held at the Chinese Teachers Memorial Auditorium on Monday.

Seasoned journalist Lubna Jarrar Naqvi, Mehnaz Rehman from the Aurat Foundation, Dr Shahrukh Shahnawaz, Advocate at the Sindh High Court, and others shed light on the legal aspects of harassment issues.

They noted that the rising number of harassment cases in academic institutions is a matter of grave concern for society. Lubna Naqvi focused on the role of social media and its influence, highlighting how its misuse can normalise harmful behaviour.
