Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has ended months of speculation by signing a two-year contract extension, committing to Anfield until 2027.
The 32-year-old Egyptian, who joined from AS Roma in 2017, could have left on a free transfer this summer. Salah expressed his excitement, stating, "I’m very excited. We have a great team now... I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football."
He further reflected on his time at Liverpool, saying, "I played [for] eight years, hopefully, it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football." Acknowledging the fans, Salah added, "Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies."
This season, Salah has been in outstanding form, scoring 32 goals in all competitions and leading the Premier League's Golden Boot race with 27 goals. Liverpool currently top the league, 11 points clear of Arsenal with seven games remaining.
Manager Arne Slot expressed his satisfaction with the contract extension, stating, "He has shown at this club for so many years in a row how much of a value he is for the club and the team."
Salah's new deal reportedly makes him one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League, earning around £400,000 per week, and reflects his status as a pivotal figure in Liverpool's pursuit of further silverware.
