Conor McGregor has stirred the pot once again by commenting on the upcoming Michael Chandler vs. Paddy Pimblett fight at UFC 314. Despite McGregor’s interest, both fighters have shown little regard for his remarks as they focus on their own preparations for the event.
Conor McGregor, who has been out of action since his leg injury at UFC 264, recently expressed interest in the Michael Chandler vs. Paddy Pimblett fight set for UFC 314.
The former two-division champion shared a video of himself training with the simple caption, “I am interested in the Chandler/Pimblett fight this weekend.”
However, his comment didn’t seem to phase either Chandler or Pimblett, who have their eyes firmly set on their co-main event showdown in Miami.
Chandler, speaking at the UFC 314 pre-fight press conference, brushed off McGregor’s comment, suggesting that the Irishman’s ability to return to action was uncertain, especially after being sidelined for so long.
“Can he put together a training camp?” Chandler questioned, emphasizing his own active schedule in the UFC, which has seen him fight multiple times over the past two years.
Pimblett, who shares a history with McGregor in the Cage Warriors promotion, also responded to the interest, acknowledging that he would welcome a fight with McGregor if the opportunity presented itself.
However, he made it clear that his focus is entirely on Chandler for UFC 314. "I can’t look past Michael," Pimblett stated. "I’ve got to fight Michael on Saturday night and get the win here. That’s all that matters.”
With the event just days away, all eyes will be on Chandler and Pimblett as they look to make a statement in the featherweight division, while McGregor continues to focus on his other ventures outside of the octagon.
