Toni Braxton and Birdman secretly tied the knot in August 2024, but their whirlwind marriage quickly hit turbulence, according to a report from TMZ.
The R&B icon, 57, and the Cash Money Records founder, 56, allegedly exchanged vows on August 8, 2024. However, just two days later, Braxton listed August 10 as their official date of separation and filed for divorce two weeks after the wedding.
Citing an “irretrievably broken” relationship, Braxton appeared ready to end her marriage just as quickly as it began. Still, in a surprising twist, she dismissed the divorce petition in January 2025, with Birdman reportedly signing off on the decision. This move means the pair remains legally married, although their current relationship status remains unclear.
The couple, who began dating in 2016 after a decades-long friendship, have had a famously on-again, off-again romance. Birdman proposed in 2018 with a $1 million diamond ring, and though they called off the engagement in 2019, they reconciled shortly after. In late 2023, Braxton publicly denied marriage rumors and insisted they were no longer together, calling the speculation “fake news.”
Fans have noticed that both Braxton and Birdman have wiped photos of each other from their social media pages. Braxton has also been spotted without a wedding ring in recent Instagram posts, fueling rumors of a split.
This would mark Birdman’s first marriage. He shares two adult children with ex-girlfriend Tia. Braxton was previously married to Keri Lewis from 2001 to 2013, with whom she shares two sons.
Whether the music mogul and R&B legend are still together or simply remain married on paper remains to be seen.
