Memo del Bosque, renowned Mexican television producer and longtime figure at TelevisaUnivision, has died at the age of 64. Known for creating some of Mexico’s most recognisable entertainment programmes, del Bosque confirmed his own death through a scheduled post on Instagram.
“Today I wish to share that I have reached the end of my life,” read the message. “Cancer was a very tough battle that I fought with everything I could, but God has decided that this disease will no longer hurt me.”
Del Bosque was first diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in 2017 and had been in remission since 2020. Earlier this year, he revealed that he was once again experiencing serious health complications. On Monday, his Instagram account published the farewell message he had prepared in advance.
“I thank God for allowing me to continue living since I was diagnosed in 2017, and for having been able to enjoy my children, Vica [wife], and my entire family,” the message continued. “I am thankful for my friends who never left. Thank you for all your love.”
Born on 15 February 1961, Guillermo del Bosque became a leading figure in Spanish-language television. His credits include 100 Mexicanos Dijeron, Perdiendo el Juicio, Nosotros Los Guapos, and scripted series Logout (2015) and Login (2016). He also worked extensively with Telehit, a major music TV network in Mexico.
Del Bosque’s decision to address his audience directly in his final message was widely shared across social media and drew tributes from fans, colleagues, and celebrities throughout Latin America.
