Reaching out: PPHI sets up 11 emergency monitoring centres

34 health facilities are working 24 hours a day.

Emergency monitoring centres were set up in Karachi, Matiari, Mirpurkhas, Tando Mohammad Khan, Thatta, Badin, Mithi, Khairpur, Sanghar, Umerkot and Tando Allahyar immediately after the rains by the People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) in collaboration with the Sindh government.



The PPHI had set up 353 relief camps, 48 special medical camps in tents and schools. They have also set up 89 mobile medical camps in hired vehicles, for doctors, lady health workers, vaccinators and are delivering medicines to rain-affected districts.

So far, 34 health facilities are working 24 hours a day. Since August 12, around 332,900 patients have been treated, 3,283 women and children have been vaccinated and 21 snake bite and 99 dog bite cases have also been dealt with.

It is estimated that approximately 2.5 million people are in immediate need of clean water and sanitation.
