Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Vice Chairman and NED University Karachi's former vice chancellor Professor Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodi has emphasised the critical role engineers play in national development, stating that PEC is actively working to align Pakistan's engineering sector with global standards.

Speaking at an Iftar reception hosted by Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Altaf Ali Siyal, Lodi emphasised the vital role of engineers in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, technological advancements and modern agricultural practices, according to a statement released on Saturday.

He noted that professionals in agricultural, mechanical and civil engineering must be equipped with cutting-edge technical expertise to enhance water management, smart agriculture and mechanised farming for improved productivity.

Lodi underscored the global impact of engineers in addressing climate change, environmental challenges and ensuring food security, and stressed the need for strategic collaboration between the academia and professional bodies to meet contemporary challenges.

Altaf Ali Siyal, in his speech, highlighted the importance of synergy between engineering and agriculture. He noted that such partnerships could optimise resource utilisation, strengthen academic programmes and create employment opportunities.
