Following the explosive season 2 finale of Severance on March 20, 2025, fans are eager for confirmation on season 3. While Apple TV+ has not officially renewed the show, the series remains one of the platform’s top performers, recently surpassing Ted Lasso to become its most-watched title.

With over three billion streaming minutes logged during its second season, a continuation seems almost guaranteed.

Ben Stiller, the show’s director and executive producer, recently confirmed on the Kelce brothers' New Heights podcast that work on season 3 has already begun, saying, “The plan is not to [wait three years]… Hopefully we’ll be announcing what the plan is very soon.” A writers’ room is currently active in Los Angeles, THR reports.

Series creator Dan Erickson also spoke to Decider and offered a cryptic tease, noting, “There will probably be some office stuff. There will probably be some existential stuff. There will probably be a laugh or two. There will probably be some creepy moments.”

Season 2 ended with several unresolved threads. These cliffhangers lay the foundation for a potentially dramatic and emotionally charged season 3.

There is no confirmed release date yet, but Stiller blamed prior delays on the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, explaining, “We shot for 186 days on Season 2. Editing takes a while, but thank goodness the audience was there when we came back.” The intention now is to avoid another long gap between seasons.

While official word from Apple TV+ remains pending, the cast and crew’s public comments point strongly towards a return.
