Three motorcyclists killed in separate road accidents in Karachi
Three people lost their lives in separate traffic accidents in Karachi on Thursday, marking the latest in a series of tragic incidents as traffic-related fatalities continue to increase in the port city.
The first incident occurred near Johar Mor when a speeding cement mixer truck collided with a motorcycle, killing 25-year-old Abdul Saboor instantly. In response, an angry mob set the truck on fire, leading to the arrest of the driver by the police.
In a second tragedy in Liaquatabad No 10, a dumper truck struck and killed a motorcyclist, while a third fatal accident took place in Keamari when a car collided with a bike, resulting in the death of another motorcyclist.
These incidents highlight the growing concerns over road safety in the city and the need for immediate action to address reckless driving.
On the other hand, Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, announced that families of victims of dumper truck accidents in Karachi will receive land plots, with a daily lottery to allocate them and files handed over immediately. He also launched the "Ittehad Ramadan" initiative to promote unity during Ramadan.
Tessori expressed concern over youth drug addiction, revealing the availability of over 32 types of drugs, and urged parents to monitor their children.
He announced the creation of an anti-drug cell at the Governor House to combat the issue and raise public awareness.
Tessori shared that he received a life-threatening email, but proceeded with his visit to London. He called for a clear policy on private security guards, criticizing their excessive presence outside residences. He also promised to ensure a thorough investigation into the Mustafa Amir case.
Lastly, the Governor thanked businessman Ali Sheikhani for his support in providing Iftar at the Governor House.
