Denver, missing Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray, struggled to recover after trailing 46-29 at the end of the first quarter. The loss saw the Nuggets slip behind the Lakers in the Western Conference standings.

"Like I always say, every day gets better," Dončić told ESPN. "That’s three wins in a row now, so we've got to just keep it going."

Since joining Los Angeles from Dallas, Dončić has posted 30 or more points in eight of his 16 games. The Lakers' 46-point first quarter was their highest-scoring period of the season.
