Ex-MPA of PTI booked for assault on PPP MPA
A former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA and his son are among 10 accused in an alleged armed assault that took place on March 16 in Ghotki district. The alleged attack was on MPA Jam Mehtab Dahar of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), upon whose complaint an FIR was lodged at Keenjho police station.
The ex-MPA Shaharyar Khan Shar and his son Jehangir Shar along with the other accused have been charged under sections 302, 324, 147, 148, 149 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code as well as section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
MPA Dahar claims that his vehicle was fired upon, leading to injuries of three of his associates and the death of one of his guards. MPA Dahar has cited Shar as the main accused, claiming that Shar intercepted and threatened him because he had contested the general elections from Shar's area. He alleged that Shar said he would ensure that no politician dared to stand against him in that constituency.
For the last two days, the Ghotki police have undertaken the raiding of villages inhabited by the accused individuals, setting fire to their houses, and leaving the villages partially razed.
