A newborn girl was found dead at Ayub Chowk in Johar Town on Wednesday.
The police launched an investigation and search for the child's mother.
According to a spokesperson for the Edhi Foundation, local residents alerted the authorities after spotting the body near Ayub Chowk.
Police transferred the body to a morgue for examination.
Initial reports suggest the baby was a few hours old at the time of her death.

Meanwhile, a 60-year-old man was found dead near a railway station. His identity remained unknown and the authorities were trying to trace his family.
A 30-year-old man was discovered dead in the Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate area.
