Rehabilitated Afghan nationals to reunite with families
In a significant development, a list of 26 rehabilitated Afghan nationals has been handed over to the Afghan Consul General in Peshawar to facilitate their reunion with their families.
This milestone marks the third phase of the "Drug-Free Peshawar" campaign, which provided comprehensive treatment to these individuals at rehabilitation centers. Among them were three children and one woman.
Afghan Consul General Hafiz Mohibullah Shakir, along with the Commissioner of Afghan Refugees, met with Peshawar Division Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud. Also present were Director of Social Welfare Rafiq Mehmand and representatives from the rehabilitation centers.
During the meeting, officials were briefed on the treatment of the recovered individuals, and the formal list of those rehabilitated was handed over to the Afghan Consul General. Most of the individuals' families, residing in Peshawar and other districts, have been traced. In accordance with diplomatic protocols, they will be reunited with their families through the Afghan Consul General.
For those with families in Afghanistan, the Afghan Consulate will facilitate their return. At the request of the Afghan Consul General, the recovered individuals will remain in the rehabilitation centers for a few more days until their families are contacted. Once arrangements are made, they will be handed over to their families through the Consulate.
The Afghan Consul General expressed gratitude to the provincial government and the Commissioner of Peshawar Division for their efforts in treating Afghan nationals struggling with drug addiction, calling it a great service to humanity.
