The K-P police successfully repelled a series of terrorist attacks over the past 24 hours, killing several militants, including a key commander, a police spokesperson said on Sunday.
In Karak, security forces eliminated Kashif, a commander of the Kaleemullah group, who was involved in multiple attacks on security forces, police target killings, bank robberies and kidnappings.
Kashif was also wanted by the CTD.
Similarly, police thwarted militant attacks in Peshawar, Karak, DI Khan and Tank, with two terrorists neutralised in Lakki Marwat.
A pre-dawn assault on Abbas Khattak's check post in Lakki Marwat was also repelled. Later, terrorists ambushed a police convoy, targeting it with an IED. However, police retaliated, killing another militant while six to seven others fled.
In Tank, a prolonged exchange of fire at Nasran check post led to the killing of a terrorist and injuries to several others. Meanwhile, in Bannu, Karak and Lakki Marwat, local residents stood alongside police, resisting terrorist advances in an unprecedented display of public-police unity.
Over the past two nights, multiple police stations and checkpoints in Bannu, Karak, DI Khan, Tank and Peshawar came under attack, raising concerns over the persistent challenges K-P police have battled for over two decades.
Despite the darkness and surprise attacks, police held their ground, foiling all assaults and eliminating key operatives.
In Peshawar, a sniper attack at Michni Gate Police Station killed ex-serviceman sentry Nizar Ali, but locals quickly mobilised to support police, forcing the militants to retreat.
